Don Alejandro de la Vega is Diego’s 48 year-old father. He is a rich landowner, has served as Governor of the Region, and seems to be a hard man who is very sure of himself though he is in fact, a loving and tender soul who always helps the oppressed civilians whenever he can. He works hard on his farm to ensure that his family’s strong financial position is never threatened, though there isn't much he can do about the Government representatives that are holding sway in his region.
He is one of the few people to believe, almost from the start, that Zorro might be his son, in spite of the boy’s laziness, ineptitude, and lack of courage.
