A 17 year-old second year high school student who is hospitalized for hepatitis A. He notices a beautiful girl, Rika, in the east wing of the hospital (reserved for patients with serious conditions) and is later encouraged by the nurse Akiko to befriend her. He makes Rika angry, because he won't read her favorite book. But Rika says she'll forgive him if Yūichi did whatever she said. Eager to gain that forgiveness, Yūichi agrees. As they spend time together, Yūichi falls in love with Rika and willingly risks everything just to be with her.
