Though she is not a student from Tootsuki Culinary Academy, Mayumi plays a bigger role in Souma's life as she is one of Souma's prime supporter to his cooking, even some of his strange delicacy such as Grilled Squid Tentacles Dressed in Peanut Butter, which is far from consumable. Because of her lack of courage and easily disoriented, Mayumi easily hesitates to express her feelings to Souma as she fears that Souma didn't understand her feelings well, that is until his return during the Summer Break that gives her a second chance to give the impression towards Souma.
